Bhatta  Utsav (Rice Utsav) !  

Sahaja Samrudha in collaboration with Sirinadu Gramina janbivruddi Samsthe and Save our Rice Campaign conducting a  Rice Utsav on 19 th  April 2009 at   Hole Hansasavadi , Shimoga dist ,Karnataka . Sahaja Samrudha invites you all to the utsav with great pride and requests you to be the part of the Utsav and join hands in reviving rice heritage.   

Rice is Asia’s most deeply revered treasure. It is central to the Asian way of life: its culture, spirituality, traditions and norms. The staple food of three billion Asians, half the world's population, Rice is Life to the people of Asia. 

In the last five decades the Rice heritage has been eroded and is under grave danger of being lost completely. The introduction of hybrid Rice serves as a springboard to genetically engineered (GE) Rice. Rice seed varieties are moving from the hands of farmers, particularly women, and indigenous communities to those of seed companies and privatized agencies.
