News Delhi: World’s Most Admired list 2018 by YouGov features Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra apart from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Hindustan times reported on Wednesday 25th July 2018.

In a new YouGov survey that reveals world’s most admired people chosen from 35 countries, only one Indian male celeb features while three female actors are prominently placed.

The list of World’s Most Admired People 2018 has been topped by Bill Gates among men and Angelina Jolie among women. It features Amitabh Bachchan, daughter-in-law and actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra in the respective categories. Prime Minister Narendra Modi occupied the spot above Amitabh Bachchan.

The list features 20 men and 20 women, all of whom are chosen after online interviews with over 37,000 people in 35 countries. Bill Gates and Angelina Jolie are the world’s most admired people – both of them have topped the list every year since 2015 when separate male and female categories were introduced. All four Indian stars -- Amitabh, Aishwarya, Priyanka and Deepika -- have featured on the list for the first time.

While Amitabh Bachchan features on the ninth spot among men, Prime Minister Narendra Modi occupies the spot above him. In the women’s list, Aishwarya Rai is the 11th most admired person in the world with Priyanka Chopra on 10th spot and Deepika Padukone on 11th. The trio got spots above Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot.

The Britain-based YouGov said on its website, “Entertainers dominate the female top twenty, with 14 of the most admired women being actresses, singers or TV presenters (although some, like Emma Watson and Angelina Jolie, are also notable for their humanitarian work). By contrast, the list of most admired men contains more people from political, business and sporting backgrounds.”

Following on from Gates in the male list is Barack Obama, with a 9.7 per cent share of admiration, followed by Jackie Chan and Xi Jinping. Meanwhile Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey follow on from Jolie in the females list.

Padukone to Madame Tussauds: Just two days back, on 23rd July 2018, Deepika Padukone became  the latest celebrity to get a wax figure at Madame Tussauds London and Delhi. Madame Tussauds London already has wax figures of Bollywood personalities like Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and others.

Deepika's wax figure will be launched in London earlier next year while in Delhi, it will be unveiled a few months later. Deepika's wax figure will be created by renowned artists. She also flew to London over the weekend to meet the team of Madame Tussauds experts for the specific measurements and photographs.

"I am so delighted. The sitting with the team of experts was a special experience and I look forward to the incredible figure at the attraction," Deepika said in a statement.

Priyanka Chopra apologises on Hindu Terror Storyline in Quantico Episode

Priyanka Chopra apologises on Hindu Terror Storyline
in Quantico Episode

New Delhi: International star Priyanka Chopra issued an apology early on Sunday, 10th June 2018 for a recent episode of her US show Quantico, which showed 'Indian nationalists' planning to carry out a terrorist attack in Manhattan and frame Pakistan for it days before a summit on Kashmir.

“I’m extremely saddened and sorry that some sentiments have been hurt by a recent episode of Quantico. That was not and would never be my intention. I sincerely apologise. I'm a proud Indian and that will never change,” Chopra tweeted.
Chopra’s apology comes a day after ABC Studios too expressed regret over the story plot, saying it stepped into a "complex political issue".

The episode, titled ‘The Blood of Romeo', received a lot of backlash from Indian fans of the show, who criticised Chopra of being a part of the storyline that put India in the negative light. They also blamed the writers of wading into the India-Pakistan issue without much understanding.

"ABC Studios and the executive producers of 'Quantico' would like to extend an apology to our audience who were offended by the most recent episode, 'The Blood of Romeo'," the network said in a statement.

"... 'Quantico' is a work of fiction. The show has featured antagonists of many different ethnicities and backgrounds, but in this case we inadvertently and regrettably stepped into a complex political issue. It was certainly not our intention to offend anyone," the statement further read.
The producers said Chopra was not to be blamed for the episode as she did not have a creative control over it.

"The episode has stirred a lot of emotion, much of which is unfairly aimed at Priyanka Chopra, who didn't create the show, nor does she write or direct it. She has no involvement in the casting of the show or the storylines depicted in the series."

Chopra, who became the first Indian actor to play a lead role in an American TV series, portrays FBI agent Alex Parrish on the show, which is currently in its third and final season.
