India hits back for Pulwama terror attack, Jaish terror camps demolished in IAF strike

India hits back for Pulwama terror attack,
Jaish terror camps demolished in IAF strike

New Delhi: Within 12 days after Pulwama attack (14th February 2019), India on Tuesday, 26th February 2019 carried out Surgical Strike 2 by air strikes in Pakistan with top government sources saying that there were over 200-to 300 casualties from IAF strike. Reports say that terror launch pads across the LoC in Balakot, Chakothi and Muzaffarabad sectors have completely been destroyed along with JeM control rooms.

While officials in the air force refused to comment, saying that they have nothing to reply, sources informed that the force targetted a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) hideout in Balakot sector with laser-guided bombs.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level CCS meeting in New Delhi earlier today along with Union ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Arun Jaitley on the attack.
News agency ANI quoted IAF sources as saying that the "attack" took place at 3:30 am when 12 Mirage 2000 fighter jets "struck a major terrorist camp across the LoC and completely destroyed it with 1,000 kg bombs.

The reaction has come days after the Pulwama attack, where 40 CRPF personnel were killed. Pakistan-based terror outfit JeM had claimed responsibility for the attack. The incident had escalated tensions between the two neighbours, with New Delhi vowing to take stern action against Islamabad.

Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations Major-General Asif Ghafoor had tweeted saying that a "payload was released in haste, which fell near Balakot". However, no casualties or damage was reported, he added.
Indian Air Force fighter planes dropped laser-guided bombs at a Jaish-e-Mohammed terror camp across the Line of Control in Balakote, Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa early on morning, intelligence sources have said.

The laser guided bombs are built with Israeli technology and were first used in Kargil. The air strike happened around 3.30 am.

According to top government sources, the Balakote camp is spread around 6 to 7 acres and is the biggest Jaish-e-Mohammed camp in Pakistan.

“Our army has demonstrated extreme bravery”, said Union Minister Prakash Javdekar in the first comment by a senior government functionary on the cross-border strike. The entire country is standing with the armed forces, he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also held a top security meet at his official residence to review the situation. Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval are among those present at the Cabinet Committee of Security meeting.

While all top government officials are refusing to take the call, a top intelligence source confirmed the strike at one of the biggest Jaish e Mohammed camp in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. According to analysts, the strike confirmed that India will deploy full spectrum deterrence if hit by a terror strike by Pakistan based terrorist group.

“The Modi government made it clear from Uri 2016 that every terror strike will be met with a retaliation ,” said a top diplomat. “The question in the past was should we or should we not. Now it is when where and how.”.

The strike comes almost two weeks after a terror attack killed 40 CRPF troopers in Pulwama in south Kashmir that raised tensions between India and Pakistan. The suicide bombing had led to calls for punitive strikes against Pakistan for harbouring terrorists.

Pakistan’s Director General of Inter Services Public Relations Pakistan, Asif Ghafoor, tweeted, “Indian aircrafts intruded from Muzafarabad sector. Facing timely and effective response from Pakistan Air Force released payload in haste while escaping which fell near Balakot. No casualties or damage.”

IAF strike by India was praised by one and all including Congress President Rahul Gandhi, J & K former CM Omer Abdullah, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Bannerjee, Karnatak Chief Minister H.D. Kumarswamy, Delhi CM Aravind Kejriwal. Tweets flooded with praising IAF strike.

Another Surgical Strike by India?

Rajnath Singh hints something
News Delhi: On the eve of the second anniversary of the surgical strikes (i.e. on Friday, 28th September 2018) Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said something big has happened in the past two days. He said this in context of the killing of a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan along the Line of Control (LoC) by Pakistan troops.

Rajnath Singh indicated that Indian forces may have hit Pakistani targets across the border to avenge the brutal killing of a BSF jawan by the Pakistanis.

"Something has happened, I won't disclose it now. Whatever has happened, has happened for the good. Trust me, something big has happened two-three days ago. And you will also see what happens in future," Rajnath said referring to the killing of Narendra Singh.

"I have told the BSF jawans, don't fire the first bullet, as they are our neighbours. But if they fire the first one, don't count the number of bullets you fire back," Rajnath said.

Few days ago a BSF jawan, Narendra Singh, was shot dead and mutilated near the border in Jammu and Kashmir.

BSF said that some counter-action has already been taken along the LoC and more is in store.

The government on September 27, 2018, released a fresh video clip of the 2016 surgical strike which was made using overhead footage from unmanned aerial vehicles or UAVs and thermal imaging, showing a terror launchpad being destroyed.

On the eve of the second anniversary of the surgical strikes, BJP released a video clip of the 2016 surgical strike.

Just two days back some media reported that While Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan making peace proposals with New Delhi terror groups backed by his country’s army were setting up eight new launch pads along the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Approximately 250 terrorists are waiting to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir from 27 launch pads in PoK, top intelligence sources said.

Indian Army conducts surgical strikes in Pak Occupied Kashmir

Indian Army conducts surgical strikes
 in Pak Occupied Kashmir
New Delhi: In a first, India carried out surgical strikes on seven terror launch pads across the LoC with the Army inflicting "significant casualties" on terrorists preparing to infiltrate from PoK, days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned Uri attack would not go unpunished.
According to sources 38 terrorists and 9 soldiers of Pakistan were killed in the attack whereas not even a single Indian soldier injured.

Seven terror launch pads across the Line of Control(LoC) were targeted by the Army on the intervening night of September 28 and 29  in a nearly five-hour-long operation during which heliborne and ground forces were deployed, Defence sources said.

They said the launch pads in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) were in the range of 2 to 3km from the LoC and were under surveillance for over one week while Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu said the strikes targeted 5-6 places along Kupwara and Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir. Naidu said there was no casualty on the Indian side.

The announcement of the strikes that came 11 days after the attack by Pakistan-based terror outfit JeM on an Indian army camp in Uri in Kashmir over which Modi had said the attackers will not go "unpunished" and that they will not be forgiven and the sacrifice of 18 jawans will not go in vain.

The announcement was made by DGMO Lt Gen Ranbir Singh in a press conference. After the Uri terror attack, the NDA government faced intense pressure for a strong response against Pakistan.

Unconfirmed reports said around 40 terrorists were present in the seven launch pads and they may have been killed. However, there was no official word on it.

"Based on very credible and specific information which we received on Wednesday 28th September 2016 that some terrorist teams had positioned themselves at launch pads along the Line of Control with an aim to carry out infiltration and terrorist strikes in Jammu & Kashmir and in various other metros in our country, the Indian army conducted surgical strikes last night at these launch pads," Gen Singh told a news conference during which External affairs ministry spokesman Vikas Swarup was also present.

Pakistan, however, dismissed as "fabrication of truth" India's claim that it has conducted a military operation across the LoC to target terrorist launching pads, terming it as a "quest" by India to create media hype by rebranding cross-border fire as surgical strike.

"There has been no surgical strike by India, instead there had been cross border fire initiated and conducted by India which is existential phenomenon," Pakistan army said in a statement in Islamabad..
