Two Ratnas named for 'Bharata Ratna'
Former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee and freedom fighter Madan Mohan Malaveeya were conferred with, Bharata Ratna the highest civilian award of the country by the union government. The center has decided to confer the award on both the leaders in recognition of their services to the country. Malaveeya was conferred with award posthumously.
Vajpayee has shot to fame for being the first PM of the country from BJP which lead National Democatic Alliance (NDA) Government. He was also credited with running a minority government successfully with the help of BJP’s alliance partners. His achievements also include nuclear bomb tests at Pokhran of Rajasthan in the year 1998. Interestingly, vajpayee was responsible for the appointment of present PM Narendra Modi to the CM’s post of Gujarat.
On the other hand Madan Mohan Malaveeya is the leader of the Hindu Mahasabha. He also worked as teacher and an advocate for freedom fighters. He was the great Educationist and a journalist. He established Benaras Hindu University which inculcated patriotism in students and became the first VC of university. He was the the President of Congress Party too.
Both leaders born on December 25th, incidentally co insiding with Chrismas day.
Union Govt announced the Awards on the eve of their birthday.
