 “Kalarnava - 2016” at Bengaluru

Bangaluru: Oh my!  music, dance and a cultural extravaganza under one roof? This is Kalarnava, the ocean of cultural waves. There is music, dance, ballets and a confluence of who’s who of cultural world and doyens of classical music.

Saturday June 4th and Sunday June 5th 2016 will offer a weekend cultural feast to Bangaloreans. City based Gokulam musical school has organised ‘Kalarnava-2016’ at Dayanand Sagar college auditorium at Kumarswamy Layout. Hundreds of artists are going to take part in this programme.

Dayanand Sagar College of engineering, Dayanada Sagar University, Dr. D Premachandra Sagar centre for performing arts and Gokulam School of music have joined hands to organise this cultural extravaganza. Gokulam musical school is the brainchild of Venugopal, a renowned flutist.
Diverse programmes:
Krishna Lilarnava: Krishna Lilarnava, Nritya Roopaka, is choreographed using 5 traditional dance forms of India. This will depict Krishna’s life from birth to till Bhagavdgita and will be the highlight of the programme.  Around 120 dancers from more than 10 dance groups are participating in this.

Dessert Music in garden city: Renowned Rajasthani musician Manganiyar  Diyu Khan will present mesmerising Rajastani music using the traditional Kamaichar, Kartal and Dolaks. This is a special feature of Kalarnava.

Another musical doyen Pundit Suresh Talvalkar will present ‘ Talakeertan’ a classical keertan. Gangavatarana from Ranga Sourabha, special programme ‘Bellitereya Honnina Haadu’ by Shatavadhani Dr. R Ganesh are also scheduled during Kalarnava. He will analyse in his own inimitable way the evergreen movie songs of South India. Prof. Krishnegowda will tickle the funny bones of participants through his unique oration, Strum station by Surya Praveen, son of Praveen D Rao, visual art by Vilas Naik, Raghavendra Hegade, Prahlada Acharya and Vindod Gowda…and many more art forms are waiting to enthral the audience. 

The endless list of cultural programmes also include violin jugalbandi by Sri Mysore Nagaraj and Dr. Sri Mysore Manjunath along with ‘Layataranga’ and team. Miss. VarijaShri and Varun Pradeep will present ‘Medley’ programme. Ex Dy CM R. Ashok will grace the occasion as special guest.


Vidyarnava and Klavatamsha Awards: This time eminent scholars and artists will be awarded ‘Vidyarnava’ and ‘Kalavatamsa’ awards respectively. Legendary playback singer Dr. S P Balasubramanyam will be awarded with “Vidyarnava”, famous singer Hariharan will give the award. Vilas Naik also known as fastest paint artist, Sand artist Raghavendra Hegade and Shadow play expert Prahlada Acharya will receive ‘Kalavatamsa’ award.
